Who is iPolyglot?
A lifelong language learner and professional educator.
David Hanes has traveled to over forty countries around the world and can read, write and speak ten different major world languages, including his native English. He has worked as a professional educator for over thirty years, teaching at all levels; from bilingual Spanish kindergarten classes to English composition classes at the university level, English as a Second Language classes for adults, and everything in between, including over twenty years as a secondary instructor in Los Angeles teaching foreign language classes in six different languages. He has studied abroad in Austria, the Soviet Union (Russia), Guatemala, China, South Korea, and most recently in India in 2017 as a recipient of the Critical Languages Scholarship of the US State Department. He holds a Masters Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language, and a Bachelors in Russian Studies, and nine different California State teaching credentials.

Spanish Tutoring
Learn to read, write, speak and comprehend standard Spanish usable anywhere in the Hispanic world, or focus on the regional dialect of your choice. I have taught all levels of Spanish for over twenty years: from beginning level through college-level Advanced Placement language and literature classes.
German Tutoring
Sharpen your German skills for travel or study at all levels, from beginner through advanced. I have academic background in German literature, and special knowledge of Bavarian and Austrian varieties of regional German.
Mandarin Tutoring
Focus on pronunciation and spoken language, or on strategies for mastering reading and writing Chinese characters- simplified or traditional. I can show you the study techniques that can make learning this ancient language both fun and easy.
Russian Tutoring
Russian grammar can be complex and confusing, but I can show you how to make sense of it and master the use of the case system. I also have a strong academic background in Russian history and literature for more advanced studies; or practice conversational Russian for travel or study.
Korean Tutoring
I offer Beginning to Basic level Korean tutoring. Learn conversational phrases for travel or get help with mastering the Hangeul writing system and pronunciation of spoken Korean; or get help studying the structure and uses of Korean grammatical forms. As a resident of Los Angeles Koreatown for over twenty-five years, I can also help with questions on Korean culture.

I offer beginning to basic level Japanese tuturing for travel or formal studies. My extensive experience with East Asian Languages can help you unlock the intricacies of the Japanes kana alphabets and the use of kanji characters, or any other aspect of Japanese language you wish to master.
